Get Out with Goorin: Smokey Mountains

Daily Adventure: Weekend Getaway - Goorin Bros.

What does adventure mean to you? I had to ask myself the same question upon looking up what Webster deems ‘adventure’ to mean. Here is what I found: unusual, exciting, experience, daring, enthusiastic, exploration, activity, unknown. I completely agree with these buzz word definitions, but adventure can also be the smallest joy of your every day: grabbing a coffee, talking the dog for a walk, or listening to a new song while you get ready for the day. The adventure is taking your hat with you.

Often we see folks buying hats for a particular event, maybe a dinner party or a night out (people still do that right?); so hats sometimes have an ere of dressiness, or formality. While we are always down for a suited up asymmetrical fedora look, don’t be afraid to bring your trusted wool fedoras on your outdoor adventures as well.

We recently took a much needed cabin getaway in the Smokey Mountains National Park. Couple of negative-tested friends, food, booze, jazz, hot tubs, hikes, and hats! Cooked a bunch of dinners, told stories around the bonfire, took morning hikes, day spent at the local brewery - all while sporting a copious amount of hats.

Whenever we pack for either a road-trip or a flight, the first question is always: “Okay so what hats are we bringing.” Now, does this vary on where we’re off to, and what the weather will be like, and maybe even what we will be doing there? 100%. But even your style of hat doesn’t need to be categorized down to a certain type of trip.

For this much needed cabin retreat we packed: trucker caps, beanies, flatcaps, straw AND wool fedoras. Lets just say there were definitely extra bags JUST for hats. Road-tripping from Tennessee to North Carolina is a breeze, so we did not feel limited on which hats we were able to bring - you shouldn't either!

And I wasn’t the only one who got the “multiple hat memo”. Almost all of us had this variety (and this amount) of hats for our three-day getaway. All of this to say, do not be afraid to bring your hats with you anywhere and everywhere – they love a good adventure too.
