An Italian take on toquilla
Our latest June straw arrival is Bruno Luigi, and he's a beaut. Shaped from Block No.28, Bruno is River Grey's cool Italian cousin that you're lucky enough to go and visit in the summertime. Bruno has that cool and collected persona and is effortlessly stylish. We rarely have crocheted toquilla and he sets it apart.
From Our Product Team: What makes this toquilla weave special?
"The more waves or weaves, the finer the straw, and the higher the quality of the weave. Simple as that! So, what goes into making a hat of a very high grade of panama straw? What is it about a very high WPI (wave per inch) that makes the hat so excellent? The first is that a higher WPI requires a thinner strand of straw, which in turn guarantees a higher grade of straw. A lower grade or straw will never be able to withstand the rigors of being braided into such a fine pattern. Crochet toquilla is the same fiber but its woven with a needle and that is why its a looser weave than our regular toquilla fiber hats which are hand woven."
Bruno Luigi is a grade 8 weave, whereas some of our other tried and true styles like Puerto Lopez come in at a grade 3. This weave is softer and a packable "panama" style which is rare. Bruno is officially your best friend for travel in terms of packing and styling. How could you travel without him? Bruno Luigi is the epitome of effortless style
-------------------------------------------------------------From The Stylist Corner: "Notice how far accessories (and the hat is an accessory) go in adding some sophistication to outfits that would be fairly tame without them. If you add a hat, it raises the level of your fit. Think of it like seasoning on food. Add a dash, and go forth." - Alex Mroz, Sr. Digital Styling Manager
