measure YOUR HEAD

Step 1

STEP 1

Locate a soft, flexible seamstress tape measure. Determine the widest portion of your head, typically starting just above the eyebrows and in the rear, you may feel a slight knot on the back of your skull.

No soft tape measure? Simply cut a 30” piece of string and grab a yard stick.

Step 2

STEP 2

Using a mirror, place the tape so that centimeters are visible starting at the front and wrap it comfortably around your head covering the widest portion until it overlaps above the eyebrows and ears.

If using a string method, follow the steps above. Mark on the string where it overlaps so that you can lay it down against the yard stick to determine the length in inches.

You should be left with a measurement between 52 & 63 centimeters. Use our provided conversion chart below to determine your appropriate hat size. Enjoy.

Those who have never worn a hat before tend to start with something
short to medium, around 2.5 inches or shorter. Our Dean the Butcher is a popular choice for this reason. Once you get comfortable with that, it'll be easy for you to decide to go up or down in brim size.

Otherwise, the best trick is to wear a hat that sits within your frame. If you have narrow shoulders, try a short-to-medium brim; if you have wide shoulders, a wide brim may suit you best to fill out your frame.

It's always best to wear hats around for a couple days to get accustomed to them. After you've overcome the initial distraction of seeing something larger than usual on your head, you'll be able to assess your preferences.

Turn heads with this hat on your head

I purchased the colonel marsh in burgundy. The whole colonel set is The fit, the look , the feel. You can't go wrong. The only Disappointment will come from all the haters looking at you haha. Hopefully I can snag this green when it comes back in M size. Out of my 7 Goorin. Fedoras this is only 2nd to the billy (denim)

Mass Appeal

FINALLY!!! I’ve been waiting for a while now to get my hands on this beauty. Ordered the Billy in Cognac but it fit a little too snug for my liking. I reached out to Goorin Bro’s and requested an exchange. They shipped me the Colonial Pierce before I had even sent back the Billy. They also gave me the shipping label to send the Billy back all free of charge. Also I fortunate to to utilize the holiday discount that was offered when I bought the Billy. Job well done by Goorin Bro’s customer service team. BRAVO!!! Now the hat… I use Hiphop song titles in the Title of Reviews, because that’s what comes to mind when I open the box & place the hats on my head. This hat is a comfortable fit. Rich chocolate brown color with a hint of Navy on ribbon. The quality and craftsmanship is fantastic. Definitely a true to size item that you can style up or down. Prepare to turn heads with the pencil curled brim. Definitely not something that is commonly seen. I have the Tan & Blue swirl Colonial Pierce as well. That’s another post for another day. If you love fedoras the Colonial Pierce is a must have. It won’t miss… Cheers!
