Get out with Goorin: The Getaway House

a weekend of unplugging #getawayoften

Get out with Goorin: The Getaway House - Goorin Bros.

If you haven't been privy to experiencing The Getaway House Outposts, you need to book a cabin ASAP. "Disconnect to Reconnect: Unplug from work, wifi, and routines, and reconnect to who and what matters." The first thing you read on their website. These outposts are scattered across the country and the biggest takeaway from the Getaway is simply disconnecting. No matter how actively we try to take time away from our technologies, work, phones, etc in our daily lives, it is SO. HARD. Especially with so many more folks working from home the past year, it is really difficult to create that boundary of work versus life.

I first heard about the Getaway House a few years back thinking what a fantastic idea and wow those all black cabins are chic as hell. Like most people last summer, we were itching to just get away from being stuck at home. The closest Outpost to Nashville at the time was down in Suches, GA by the Chattahoochee National Forest. The best part is that the Outposts are dog friendly so we were able to bring the pup, pack some outdoor gear and hit the road.

I'll tell you, waking up to being surrounded by trees and nature with that huge window is magical. How could you ever be upset if you're waking up in the trees right?! We had such an amazing and relaxing time last year that we knew we wanted to check out the new outside Nashville location by Dale Hollow Lake. It was a less than two hour drive out there and the lake itself was only 20 mins from the Outpost - we went every single day. The spot we found was underneath a swinging bridge and had a bunch of uneven stone to create a makeshift swimming hole in the middle of Dale Hollow Lake. The water was like bath water and we just couldn't get enough. I wore my Sundowner palm straw hat with the stampede strap each time at the lake - and thank goodness I did - because I certainly lost my footing and plunged into the water and my hat stayed on my head. I was also thankful I chose to bring a palm straw hat because they are water champions, so I knew I didn't have to worry. Farm caps were a MUST for both my husband and I when we were back at the campsite cooking dinners on the fire-pit and drinking orange wine at the picnic table.

It's small getaways like this that really give you a moment to soak in everything and The Getaway House has perfected the model. Book your escape today, bring your Goorin's.
