measure YOUR HEAD

Step 1

STEP 1

Locate a soft, flexible seamstress tape measure. Determine the widest portion of your head, typically starting just above the eyebrows and in the rear, you may feel a slight knot on the back of your skull.

No soft tape measure? Simply cut a 30” piece of string and grab a yard stick.

Step 2

STEP 2

Using a mirror, place the tape so that centimeters are visible starting at the front and wrap it comfortably around your head covering the widest portion until it overlaps above the eyebrows and ears.

If using a string method, follow the steps above. Mark on the string where it overlaps so that you can lay it down against the yard stick to determine the length in inches.

You should be left with a measurement between 52 & 63 centimeters. Use our provided conversion chart below to determine your appropriate hat size. Enjoy.

Anything you'll feel confident wearing.

Those who have never worn a hat before tend to start with something
short to medium, around 2.5 inches or shorter. Our Dean the Butcher is a popular choice for this reason. Once you get comfortable with that, it'll be easy for you to decide to go up or down in brim size.

Otherwise, the best trick is to wear a hat that sits within your frame. If you have narrow shoulders, try a short-to-medium brim; if you have wide shoulders, a wide brim may suit you best to fill out your frame.

It's always best to wear hats around for a couple days to get accustomed to them. After you've overcome the initial distraction of seeing something larger than usual on your head, you'll be able to assess your preferences.

While hats can be forgiving, they can still require a bit of TLC if you wear them often.

If you don't wear it for long periods, make sure it is stored properly, brush it between wears, and give it a quick steam every season.

Love the Colors

I was a bit disappointed with the weight of the hat, and I thought the brim was wider. Especially for the price I paid! But, I decided to keep it and wore it out to a play, and it was cute with my 'fit'. I'm wearing a medium.

Not exactly but I have NO COMPLAINTS

While not the exactly expected mix of color, more orange than yellow mostly, i love this hat! Missed the other colors though. Never question the quality or fit. I just ask you keep making these color mixes love them. White/off white or tan red/burgundy? BUT if you put purple Dean out like this email or text me ASAP!

Caution

Nice concept. Poor implementation. My hat did not come appearing as originally pictured — there was no pinch bow — taking away from the elegance this hat should have. Note the pictures were later updated to accurately depict the boring, not bold band. My swirl variation looks more like stains than swirls — at this price point a tough outcome to life with. I might try one more color potentially (with a proper pinch bow) and give up if I get another hat that falls short.
